Hilliard High is a school like
all others in some ways, very different in others. Our
students participate in a wide variety of activities, from
clubs to sports. Hilliard High's facilities are
unparalleled in our area. We are the only school in the
county with a low-power television station, and we also
have a radio station license pending. The Flash Tribune,
our school's newspaper is published by the journalism
class. Students are gaining real world experience by
participating in these and other activities. This
experience will help them make the transition from
classroom to work place.
Though hampered by lack of funding, HMSHS has managed to
accumulate a tremendous amount of computing power, with
several computers in almost every classroom. We also offer
several courses involving computer training, such as
Business Computing and Word Processing. These are key to
provide our students with the skills to ensure their future
success.
Hilliard is a small town. As with most small towns, the
citizens are friendly and everyone knows everyone else.
School and Church are the cornerstones of our community.
Many parents are very active within the school,
volunteering their time and resources, aiding in the
education of their own and their neighbor's children.
Recreational activities of our students are the same as
they are in other areas of the nation. Students enjoy
concerts, seeing movies and dating. Our students have
active social lives. Many football games are followed by
dances and other events of a similar nature. The students
of HMSHS main focus is, of course, education.
Academics, athletics, and community involvement; that is
Hilliard High.
